Sister Nancy's Note: Supporters Like You Make Successes Possible
This blog is part of a monthly reflection series from Sister Nancy Downing - CEO, St. Ann's Center. Find more of these reflections by visiting the archive: Sister Nancy's Note.
Dear Friends,
The other day, I was out on our playground with about half-a-dozen toddlers from St. Ann’s Center’s Child Care Center. One little fellow was running to catch up with his classmates when he tripped and fell, scuffing his hands and his sense of pride. He pressed his face to the blacktop and started crying quietly.
I picked him up, dusted off his hands and face, and comforted him, assuring him that everything was going to be all right. He soon stopped crying and wiggled to be put down again. Off he ran to play with his friends!
Then, a thought struck me - “That’s what we all need sometimes! Someone who can offer reassurance, safety and encouragement, and then set us on our way again."
That kind of warm, nurturing support is exactly what you make possible at St. Ann's Center. Your generosity provides for the women and their children who turn to us. While they stay with us at St. Ann's, women are cared for and supported through a comprehensive array of services: a stable place to call "home," enhanced with case management, counseling, social services, employment and education support, life coaching, and even on-site Child Care.
These and other aspects of our programs assist young families in healing from past traumas, achieving stability while at St. Ann's, and spring-boarding to fulfillment and independence once they are ready to successfully transition.
How fortunate we are to have you as a supporter, helping make these successes possible.
Sincerely,
Sister Nancy Downing, CND
